Robotics is one of the most exciting parts of Panda Programmer’s curriculum and a favorite among students in grades 1 through 8. Through hands-on building and programming challenges, children learn how to think logically, break problems into smaller steps, and bring their creations to life. Robotics gives young learners a powerful combination of engineering, coding, creativity, and teamwork—all wrapped into a fun, engaging experience.
At Panda Programmer, robotics lessons are designed for beginners as well as more advanced students. Children work with robot kits that are age-appropriate, safe, and intuitive, allowing them to focus on problem-solving and design rather than complicated setup. Students program their robots to move, react to sensors, navigate mazes, complete challenges, and interact with the world around them. These projects naturally teach important programming concepts such as sequencing, loops, conditionals, parallel actions, and event-based behavior.
Robotics is available through multiple Panda Programmer programs. Many students first discover robotics during our week-long summer camps, where they build and code robots as part of the daily curriculum. Families can explore all summer offerings on our main Summer Camps page or visit location-specific pages for the Gaithersburg Summer Camp, the Silver Spring Summer Camp, the Bethesda Summer Camp, or the Washington DC Summer Camp.
During the school year, robotics is also part of our weekend classes for older or returning students who are ready for more advanced programming challenges. These small-group weekend sessions provide a structured environment where children can continue building their skills throughout the year. More information about times, locations, and curriculum can be found on our Weekend Classes page.
Panda Programmer additionally offers robotics instruction through after-school enrichment at several local schools. These programs allow students to practice engineering and coding immediately after the school day using structured lessons and hands-on robot kits. To see participating schools and registration options, visit our After-School Programs page.
Robotics helps children develop creativity, critical thinking, patience, and confidence—skills that carry over into math, science, writing, and everyday life. It’s not only educational but incredibly fun, and many students say robotics is the highlight of their week.
