Panda Programmer’s coding camps provide a fun, hands-on, and educational way for children in grades 1 through 8 to learn computer programming, game design, robotics logic, and creative problem-solving. Our coding camps combine structured lessons with plenty of time for students to build their own projects, ensuring that children stay excited, challenged, and confident as they learn new skills. With small class sizes, experienced instructors, and a warm, supportive environment, our camps are a perfect introduction to the world of coding and STEM.
Younger campers begin with Scratch, an MIT-created visual programming language that lets children design animations, stories, games, and interactive projects. Through Scratch, students learn essential computer science concepts—loops, variables, events, conditionals, parallel logic—while staying fully engaged and creative. Older campers or returning students often progress into text-based coding using Python or JavaScript, where they write real code and tackle more advanced challenges such as simulations, puzzles, and simple applications.
Families can explore all summer coding camp options on our main Summer Camps page. Panda Programmer offers weekly coding camps at multiple locations, including the Gaithersburg Summer Camp, the Silver Spring Summer Camp, the Bethesda Summer Camp, and the Washington DC Summer Camp. Each location offers a balanced daily schedule that includes guided instruction, project-building time, screen breaks, and opportunities for students to share and celebrate their creations.
Coding camp is one of several ways students can learn with Panda Programmer. During the school year, many families enroll in our small-group weekend coding classes, which allow children to continue building skills at their own pace. Information about class times, levels, and locations is available on the Weekend Classes page.
We also teach coding during after-school programs at various Montgomery County and Northwest DC schools. These classes give students the opportunity to explore programming immediately after the school day in a familiar school environment. Parents can review participating schools and registration details on our After-School Programs page.
No matter which program families choose, Panda Programmer’s coding camps provide a fun and meaningful way for children to learn the language of technology. Students leave camp with real projects, stronger problem-solving skills, and increased confidence in their ability to create and understand code.
